Several sweepstakes casinos have reopened access in multiple states, despite California Governor Gavin Newsom signing Assembly Bill 831 into law on Oct. 11.

The Senate passed the bill on Sept. 8 with a vote of 36-0, then the State Assembly unanimously passed it with a vote of 63-0 on Sept 12. The measure would have become law on Oct. 12 with or without Gov. Newsom’s signature.

AB 831 goes into effect on Jan. 1, banning all sweepstakes platforms, including any “financial institution, payment processor, geolocation provider, gaming content supplier, platform provider, or media affiliate.”

Ace Casino, Hello Millions, Spree Casino Among Sweepstakes Casinos

According to Chavdar Vasilev of CasinoBeats, Ace Casino recently became active again in Alabama, Georgia, Maryland, and Tennessee after exiting those markets earlier this year.

ACE Casino is accessible in every U.S. state except for the following: Alabama, California, Connecticut, Idaho, Florida, Idaho, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Mississippi, Montana, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Washington, and West Virginia.

Other sweepstakes casinos have already followed suit.

In August, B-Two Operations’ platforms Hello Millions, McLuck, PlayFame, and SpinBlitz returned to Alabama and Georgia. The two states also welcomed back Spree Casino.

Last month, Baba Casino also relaunched in six states: Arkansas, Georgia, Iowa, Kentucky, Ohio, and Tennessee. The move was an interesting decision, as Baba is among the platforms with the most excluded territories.

Despite the relaunch, the site remains unavailable in the following 17 states:

Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Idaho, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Dakota, Vermont, Washington, and West Virginia.

Baba Casino Has Stricter Age Requirement

Baba Casino makes it clear in its Terms & Conditions that “use of the Service is intended and permitted for people 21 years of age or older. We reserve the right to terminate an account, including if we find that your age is less than the minimum age.”

“We may request additional information to confirm your age at any time. Any participant found to be under the minimum age will have their account terminated and their Games’ records will be void,” the site adds.

More operators could reenter Alabama, Georgia, Maryland, and Tennessee in the months ahead.

As for California, however, several operators have already decided to leave the state. Those include Carnival Citi, Dara Casino, Grand Vault Casino, High 5 Casino, Lucky Slots, PeakPlay, Ruby Sweeps, and Vegas Gems.
