Global Poker Logo CubeAs someone based in California, Global Poker is one of my favorite places to play online poker. It’s a safe, trusted social poker site with tons of competition, great win potential, and all the features I need to keep me coming back time and time again. It’s fast and easy to redeem Sweeps Coins for a cash prize or gift card, and the regular promotions are consistently worth claiming, starting with the generous welcome bonus.

Global Poker Promotions for Existing Players

Global Poker doesn’t offer too much in the way of promotions for existing users, but you’ll find a few regular offers, including:

  • Daily Login Bonus: Every day, you can click “Get Coins” in the top right corner and “claim your FREE daily bonus.” Claim the bonus each consecutive day for the total to daily bonus to increase by the 7th day.
  • Freerolls: Log in and check the freeroll tournaments to play MTTs and SNGs for free.
  • Social Media Giveaways: Global Poker often gives away Gold Coins and Sweeps Coins on their social media channels. Make sure to follow them, and consider setting alerts for the new post to increase your odds of winning.

How the Coins Work at Global Poker

Global Poker has two types of site currency: Gold Coins (GC) and Sweeps Coins (SC). Players can use GC to play for fun, with no chance to win cash prizes. Players can also play with SC, and any SC that they win at the tables can be redeemed for a cash prize.

Players always receive free SC as a bonus, as SC can’t be purchased directly. However, you receive SC whenever you purchase GC or claim the daily login bonus.

The minimum amount of SC to redeem for a cash prize at Global poker is 50 SC. But players only need 10 SC or more to redeem for a gift card to top retailers like Fanatics, Amazon, and more.

Global Poker In-Depth Review

After playing at Global Poker for years as well as many other real-money and sweeps poker sites, I feel well-equipped to provide an honest review of this site. Here are my findings:

Range of Games: 5.0 Yays out of 5.0

For ring games (Global Poker’s version of cash games) and Sit ‘n’ Go tournaments, Global Poker offers no limit, pot limit, and fixed limit Texas Hold’em, Omaha, Omaha/8 (high-low), and Crazy Pineapple. That covers the preferences of pretty much every online poker player.

For tournaments, the same format of games apply, and buy-in ranges from 0.25 SC to over 200 SC. That means both micro players, high-rollers, and everyone between can comfortably find plenty of action.

Global Poker also boasts Jackpot Sit ‘n’ Go tournaments, where you can enter SNGs for 0.25 SC, 1 SC, 5 SC, or 10 SC to win up to 2,000 SC.

  • Final Verdict: I’m not seeing a gap in Global Poker’s range of games, with every type of online poker games that players look for. That means a perfect score of 5.0 yays and zero nays.

Size of Player Pool: 5.0 Yays out of 5.0

Global Poker has millions of players across the US and Canada, ensuring there’s always tons of opponents at every buy-in level. It doesn’t matter if it’s 6 AM EST/3 AM PST, there are players going head-to-head on Global Poker. Of course, peak times offer the most action, and the biggest tournaments are scheduled at convenient times, like 7:00 PM EST on Sundays.

Again, there’s not much in the way of downsides here. Global Poker has by far the most members of any social poker site, and it rivals even the biggest real-money offshore poker sites with over a million active players.

  • Final Verdict: I’m not seeing a gap in Global Poker’s range of games, with every type of online poker games that players look for. That means a perfect score of 5.0 yays and zero nays.

Fairness & Legitimacy: 4.0 Yays out of 5.0

Global Poker is a certified-legitimate social poker site. It is licensed by the Malta Gaming Authority (MGA), and its random number generator (RNG) holds a certificate of fairness from the independent and highly respected iTech Labs. The Global Poker RNG utilizes a Mersenne Twister with background cycling, ensuring, according to iTech Labs, that all results are “unpredictable, non-repeatable, and uniformly distributed.”

However, Global Poker has been accused on many poker forums of not having enough controls to prevent things like bot farms and other forms of cheating. But there has been no evidence of wrongdoing on Global Poker’s part, with an untarnished record that goes back to 2016. That’s nearly a decade of providing legitimate gaming.

Still, the amount of negative feedback Global Poker has received can’t be ignored, and becomes my first “nay” among many “yays.”

  • Final Verdict: Global Poker doesn’t have the legitimacy of state-licensed real-money poker sites like WSOP.com or Pokerstars, hurting their legitimacy. Still, their stellar legal standing and RNG certification give me enough peace of mind to continue playing.

Payments: 3.0 Yays out of 5.0

The biggest downside to Global Poker’s payment methods is the number of options: two. Players can either use Trustly to link their bank accounts or use their debit card. They can also use their credit card, but that will charge as a cash advance, which comes with fees and should be avoided. So, really, there are only two options for making a purchase at Global Poker.

To redeem a cash prize at Global Poker, the only option is linking your bank account with Trustly. It’s convenient and only takes a few clicks, but another option, such as PayPal, would be ideal. So that takes away one “yay” and adds a “nay.”

Cash prizes must be at least $50. After an approved redemption request, it takes about a day to appear in your bank account. You can also redeem for a gift card for as little as 10 SC, which is a convenient option for those willing to forgo a cash prize.

The other “nay” comes from the structure of the SC bonus when you make a purchase. For $5, you get 25,000 Gold Coins, plus 4 FREE SC as a bonus. It would be better if it was 5 SC as a bonus like when you get to $20 worth of coins. At that point, you get 100,000 Gold Coins and 20 FREE SC as a bonus. Then if you’re willing to spend $50 on coins, you get 250,000 Gold Coins and 51 FREE SC as a bonus. I feel like if you’re going to do a 4 FREE SC bonus for $5 in Gold Coins, you should get a better deal than that when you hit the $50 purchase mark.

  • Final Verdict: Reviews are subjective, so maybe you disagree with me here. But the payments at Global Poker get two nays from me. Of course, using my bank account for purchases and redemptions is fine, but I’d like another couple of options. And the FREE SC bonus should better reflect the Gold Coins purchase. Still, I don’t mind purchasing $20 worth of Gold Coins at a time with my bank account, and redemption takes a day or so, which is also great. Overall, not by any means a dealbreaker.

Availability: 5.0 Yays out of 5.0

Global Poker is available in almost all US states and Canada with the exception of Connecticut, Idaho, Michigan, Nevada, and Washington as well as Quebec. Everywhere else has access to Global Poker, which is how it has one of the biggest player pools in the world.

  • Final Verdict: This was an easy one. Global Poker has an incredible reach thanks to its sweepstakes model, and where it’s not allowed is due to local regulations, it’s not Global Poker’s fault. For that, it’s a perfect score of 5.0 yays.

Customer Service: 3.0 Yays out of 5.0

The customer service at Global Poker leaves a bit to be desired. It has a robust FAQ section, where you can type in your question and probably find the answer. But if you want to go beyond that, the only option is to “Submit a Request” with customer service, then wait for an email back, which can take between 24 and 48 hours.

  • Final Verdict: The more customer service channels, the better. With email being the one and only option for Global Poker, that means it gets two nays: one for a lack of phone support, and another for a lack of chat support, for a total of 3.0 yays.

Other Gaming: 5.0 Yays out of 5.0

Global Poker doesn’t need to add casino-style games to be a top recommended social poker site. But it did anyway, with an impressive catalog of nearly 100 different slots, plus instant wins, scratch cards, and table games like blackjack, casino hold’em, and craps. This provides the full casino-like experience, all under one roof. If you want to take a break from the poker tables, you have plenty to choose from.

  • Final Verdict: Global Poker provides every type of casino action, starting with poker and extending into slots, table games, and more. That’s an easy 5.0 yays.

Global Poker Overall Rating: 4.3 Yays out of 5.0

Yays:

  • Every type of online poker is represented.
  • Covers a wide range of buy-in levels, from micro bettors to high-rollers.
  • Huge player pool that encompasses most of the US and Canada.
  • Solid RNG certification to ensure fairness and legitimacy.
  • Available in most of the US and Canada with the exception of Connecticut, Idaho, Michigan, Nevada, and Washington as well as Quebec.
  • Large selection of casino games, including slots, jackpot slots, blackjack, roulette, craps, and more.
Nays:

  • Payments are a bit lacking, with just Trustly online bank transfer and debit card being the only options.
  • A good amount of player complaints on forums and review sites.
  • Only one customer service option: email.

Is Global Poker Rigged?

No, Global Poker is not rigged. At the very least, there is no evidence to suggest that Global Poker rigs any of its games. It has an RNG certification from iTech Labs that ensures all results are truly random and not pre-determined whatsoever. The only “evidence” of Global Poker being rigged is anecdotal, with players who had a handful of bad beats complaining about it.

Put another way, it’s extremely unlikely that Global Poker has more bots or cheaters than any other poker site, and they take action to prevent such behavior, as spelled out in its policies.

Responsible Gaming at Global Poker

Global Poker has several high-quality responsible gaming measures in place. These include:

  • Ability to set purchase limits per day, week, and/or month.
  • You can increase the purchase limit, but it takes 72 hours to take effect.
  • Activity Reminder every hour to remind you how long you’ve been playing.
  • Easily accessible transaction history to quickly check how much you’ve spent.
  • Ability to suspend your play altogether for a day, week, two weeks, or a month, and lock you out of your account accordingly.
  • Extended periods of self-exclusion include six months to five years.
  • You can also self-exclude yourself from the website permanently.

With all these tools at your disposal, Global Poker showcases its commitment to responsible gaming to a commendable degree.

Global Poker – Final Thoughts

Global Poker offers an exceptional social poker experience from stem to stern. Players of all types will have plenty to enjoy, and many of the MTTs and jackpot SNGs can result in life-changing cash prizes. Whether you’re a casual player or a serious poker shark, few sites can hold themselves up to Global Poker.
